We are based on Santa Cruz Island, in the heart of the Galapagos Islands. Our centralized location allows for easy transport to many surrounding islands. At Galapagos AlterNATIVE we specialize in creating custom land-based Island-Hopping Tours with accomodations on the inhabited islands of Santa Cruz, Isabela, San Cristobal and Floreana. We also arrange day tours to the uninhabited islands of Bartolome, North Seymour, South Plaza, Santa Fe, Espñola and more. Each island offers unique wildlife viewing opportunites and activities. The uninhabited islands are accessible only by boat with a Galapagos National Park certified Naturalist Guide.
The islands of Santa Cruz, Isabela and San Cristobal have population centers that offer a variety of accommodations for multi-day visits and restaurants and bars for a little Galapagos style nightlife. Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, Isabela and Floreana are the inhabited islands by order of population size. Santa Cruz is the commercial center of the Galapagos with Puerto Ayora and the Baltra Airport as the main transportation hubs. San Cristobal is the capital of the Galapagos Islands and it also has an intercontinental airport. Isabela is a small waterfront town with a unique flavor and rhythm. Isabela is accessible by small plane or motorboat only. The seemingly endless white-sand beach and laid-back attitude convince many to believe that "Isabela es la Isla mas Bella" - the most beautiful island.
Bartolome, North Seymour, and South Plaza islands are all day-tour destinations accessed from the Ithabaca Channel on the north side of Santa Cruz Island. Santa Fe island is accessed from Puerto Ayora on the southside of Santa Cruz. Española Island is located southwest of San Cristóbal and is the southernmost island in the Galapagos Archipelago. We can also arrange private trips to some lesser known destinations as desired. Each island has a particular emphasis combining land and water activities with unique landscapes and wildlife viewing.
