Isla Tortuga

The Turtle-Shaped Wonder

Isla Tortuga is named for the shape of the island, not the inhabitants. The island is a collapsed volcano that is a nesting location for a variety of seabirds such as Frigatebirds and the elusive Red-Billed Tropicbird, among others.

Fishing can be an option on many of our uninhabited island tours.

The island is completely protected land so you will not be able to disembark. You can photograph and view the flocks of seabirds, Sea Lions and Marine Iguanas that call this island home from the boat and the water, though.

View countless frigate birds and other high soaring species.

This tour is a good option if you are a bird-lover or the Lava Tunnels or volcano tour don’t suit your needs.

"We are so happy we decided to do a land based tour with Galapagos Alternative. It's the best way to go! They make the process of traveling to the islands simple and don't overcharge. Their use of local tour companies stimulates the local economy and gets you right in the middle of all the action on the islands."
